パータリプッタの大臣の息子でシッガヴァの友人であり、ともにソーナカ長老のもとで出家し高い学識を得た。のちにモッガリプッタ・ティッサに経蔵と論蔵を教えた。

The son of a minister of Pāṭaliputta and friend of Siggava, with whom he entered the Order under the elder Soṇaka and became highly accomplished, later teaching Moggaliputta-Tissa the Sutta and Abhidhamma collections.
