菩薩が象王チャッダンタとして生まれたことを語るジャータカで、サーヴァッティーの比丘尼が自分がかつてその配偶者であり、その生において彼の死の原因であったことを思い出した際の複雑な喜びと悲しみを説明するために語られた。
