목마른 원숭이의 갈증을 풀어주려 우물에서 물을 길어다 주는 친절한 바라문에 관한 자타카로, 원숭이는 위협하듯 이를 드러내고는 그의 머리에 똥을 떨어뜨리고 달아나 버리며, 이 배은망덕한 원숭이는 훗날 데바닷타의 전생으로, 바라문은 부처님 자신으로 밝혀진다.
