바라나시의 왕으로 태어난 보살로, 침략해 온 적왕에게 사로잡혀 거꾸로 매달렸으나 그런 극한 상황에서도 자애를 닦아 자유와 적의 존경을 함께 얻었다.

The Bodhisatta born as King of Bārāṇasī, who, captured and hung upside down by an invading rival king, won his freedom and his enemy’s respect by cultivating loving-kindness even in that extremity.
