一则本生故事，讲菩萨为苦行导师，与四只结伴而居的动物一同守持布萨戒日，各自忏悔因贪爱或我慢而犯的过失，此故事讲给五百在家信众以鼓励持守布萨日，四兽后被指认分别是阿那律、大迦叶、大目犍连与舍利弗的前生。

A Jātaka in which the Bodhisatta as an ascetic teacher and four animal companions each observe the fast day by confessing a past fault born of attachment or pride, told to five hundred lay disciples to encourage the keeping of fast days, with the animals later identified as former lives of Anuruddha, Mahā-Kassapa, Mahā-Moggallāna, and Sāriputta.
