바라나시(Bārāṇasī)의 왕으로 태어난 보살의 본생담. 시끄럽게 우는 어치와 노래하는 뻐꾸기에 대한 신하들의 반응을 대비시켜 말투가 거친 어머니를 교화했다. 아나타삔디까(Anāthapiṇḍika)의 다투기 좋아하는 며느리 수자따(Sujātā)와 관련하여 설해졌다.

왕실 사제로 태어난 보살의 본생담. 왕이 과일 장수의 딸의 목소리에 반해 그녀를 왕비로 삼았다. 붓다가 해결을 도운 파세나디(Pasenadi) 왕과 말리까(Mallikā) 왕비 사이의 유명한 다툼과 관련하여 설해졌다.

A birth-story of the Bodhisatta as a royal chaplain whose king fell in love with a fruit-seller’s daughter’s voice and made her queen, told in reference to a famous quarrel between King Pasenadi and Queen Mallikā that the Buddha helped resolve.

수자따(Sujāta)라는 지주로 태어난 보살의 본생담. 조부의 죽음에 지나치게 슬퍼하는 아버지를 치유하기 위해 죽은 소를 두고 미친 척했다. 아버지가 죽은 후 마찬가지로 슬픔에 빠진 한 재가 신도에게 설해졌다.

A birth-story of the Bodhisatta as a landowner named Sujāta who feigned madness over a dead ox to cure his father of excessive grief over a grandfather’s death, told to a lay follower likewise consumed by grief after his father’s death.
