바라문 고행자로서의 보살이 다른 메추라기들을 죽음으로 유인한 것에 대한 회한으로 괴로워하는, 라훌라의 전생으로 여겨지는 미끼 메추라기를 위로한다는 본생담으로, 행위는 오직 악의로 인해서만 잘못이 된다는 것을 보여주기 위해 이야기되었다.
