Anāgatavaṃsa

Text

Поэма о грядущем Будде Меттейе, составленная тхерой по имени Кассапа из страны Чола, которая, как говорят, изначально была изложена самим Буддой по просьбе Сарипутты, а позже снабжена субкомментарием.

A poem on the story of Metteyya, the future Buddha, by an elder named Kassapa (Gv.61), an inhabitant of the Coḷa country (Svd.v.1204).

The poem is probably based on an older work (P.L.C.,160 f).

A Subcommentary (ṭīkā) exists, written by an Upatissa, possibly the author of the Mahābodhivaṃsa.

The introductory verses of the poem state that the story was taught by the Buddha at Sāriputta’s request. For the text see J.P.T.S.,1886, pp.32 ff.
