Un arahant qui, il y a quatre-vingt-quatorze cycles cosmiques, maintint une lampe allumée toute la nuit près du sanctuaire des reliques du Bouddha Siddhattha, jouissant ensuite de longs âges au ciel et de renaissances répétées en tant que roi, avant d’entrer dans l’Ordre à quatre ans et d’atteindre l’état d’arahant en deux semaines.

An Arahant. Ninety-four world-cycles ago he kept a lamp lighted all night near the thūpa built over the relics of Siddhattha Buddha. For seventy-seven world-cycles he was in heaven and was thirty-one times king of the devas. Twenty-eight times be was king among men. His body shone like the sun, and he could see a distance of one hundred leagues. His palace in heaven was called Ekadīpi. He entered the Order at the age of four ¹ (?) and in a fortnight became an Arahant. Ap.ii.373.
