  • A sage and royal chaplain to the Sakyan kings Sīhahanu and Suddhodana who, on learning of the newborn Siddhattha Gotama’s auspicious marks, foresaw his future Buddhahood and wept because he would not live to hear him teach, sometimes likened to the biblical Simeon.
