Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-06-18

These terms govern your use of Tipitaka.ai. Please read them before using the service — especially "A reference aid, not an authoritative ruling".

Acceptance

By using Tipitaka.ai you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. You must meet the minimum online age in your region (at least 13, or 16 in the EU).

What the service is

Tipitaka.ai is an AI search-and-answer tool grounded in the Pāḷi Tipiṭaka (Theravāda). It retrieves canonical texts and uses large language models to help you find and understand them.

A reference aid, not an authoritative ruling

AI-generated answers are aids to help you find and understand the texts. They may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies and are not an authoritative ruling on the Dhamma. They are not a substitute for: (1) the Pāḷi Tipiṭaka itself; (2) guidance from a qualified teacher / kalyāṇa-mitta; (3) any professional (medical, psychological, legal) advice. Always verify against the cited sources; for matters of practice, return to the texts and to real-world teachers.

Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the service for unlawful or harmful purposes; fabricate or distort AI output and pass it off as authoritative scripture or rulings; interfere with, attack, or circumvent the service's security and rate limits; scrape, reverse-engineer, or bulk-extract data without authorization; impersonate others or misuse another's account.

Accounts

You are responsible for activity under your account. Guest data is tied to a device; registering lets you sync across devices. Keep your credentials safe.

Sharing & public content

You can create public share links for a conversation — anyone with the link can view a read-only snapshot without signing in. Share only as widely as you are comfortable making public, do not distort the meaning, and do not treat the AI's wording as authoritative; for matters of practice point readers back to the texts and to teachers. You can revoke any link anytime in "My Shares" (revocation is immediate); a share is a snapshot taken at creation time, so later edits or deletion of the source conversation do not affect what was shared.

Intellectual property

Text translations come from public sources and their translators under their respective licenses; editor-created content belongs to us. We grant you a limited, non-transferable license to use the service for personal use; content you submit remains yours.

Subscriptions

The service is currently free. Paid tiers may be introduced later, with applicable terms provided at that time.

Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the service (including AI answers).

Termination

You may close your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or abuse the service.

Changes & contact

We may update these Terms; we revise the date at the top when we do, and continued use means you accept the updated Terms. Questions: email the address shown in the footer.
